Projectile motion:
The motion of an object thrown or projected into the air is subject to only the acceleration of gravity is called projectile motion.
Acceleration acts only in the vertical direction due to acceleration, due to gravity (g).
Properties of projectile motion:
- During projectile motion, the horizontal component of acceleration approaches zero.
- Parabolic motion seems to be the foundation of projectile motion.
- Both the horizontal as well as vertical components occupy a very similar time, although they are independent.
- Because of gravity, the vertical component of acceleration seems to be constant throughout the projectile motion.
