Onto Functions(Surjective Functions)-Definition, Graph, Properties, Solved Examples, FAQs

September 1, 2025February 9, 2025 by Neeraj Anand, Param Anand
Onto function is one of the many types of functions defined based on the relationship between its domain and codomain. For any function to be onto, it needs to relate two sets with a very specific mapping between elements, meaning that each element of the codomain has at least one element in the domain as its pre-image. In simple words, for any function, if all the elements of the codomain are mapped to some element of the domain, then the function is said to be an onto function.

One-to-One Functions(Injective): Definition, Graph, Properties, Solved Examples, FAQs

February 8, 2025 by Neeraj Anand, Param Anand
One to one function or one-one function is one of the types of functions defined over domain and codomain and describes the specific type of relationship between domain and the codomain. One to one function is also called the injective function. One to one function is a mathematical function where each element in the domain maps to a unique element in the codomain.

Venn Diagram-Definition, Examples, Symbols & Formula | Class 11 Math Notes Study Material Download Free PDF

January 18, 2025 by Neeraj Anand, Param Anand
Venn diagrams are used for the visual representation of relationships as they provide a clear, visual method for showing how different sets intersect, overlap, or remain distinct. They are essential tools in mathematics and logic for illustrating the relationships between sets. By employing intersecting circles or other shapes, venn diagrams visually represent how different sets overlap, share common elements, or remain distinct.

Universal set is a set that has all the elements associated with a given set, without any repetition. Suppose we have two sets p = {1, 3, 5} and q = {2, 4, 6} then the universal set of p and q is u = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}. We generally use u to denote universal sets.

A well-defined collection of objects or items or data is known as a set. The objects or data are known as the element. For example, the boys in a classroom can be put in one set, all integers from 1 to 100 can become one set, and all prime numbers can be called an infinite set. The symbol used for sets is {….. }. Only the collection of data with specific characteristics is called a set.

Sets are defined as the collection of well-defined data. In math, a set is a tool that helps to classify and collect data belonging to the same category, even though the elements used in sets are all different from each other, they all are similar as they belong to one group. For instance, a set of different outdoor games, say set a= {football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, badminton} all the games mentioned are different, but they all are similar in one way as they belong to the same group (outdoor games).

What are the Sets in Mathematics? Sets are defined as the collection of well-defined data. In Math, a Set is …
